Trans-dependent 
Systems thinking 

After reaching the level of Relationality, we now progress towards trans-dependence. Trans-dependence implies that we begin to rely on higher, transcendent intelligence beyond mere human interdependence at the fourth level.

This shift arises from a diminishing sense of self in favor of finding fulfillment in something greater than ourselves. We learn to navigate contradictory truths and accept the multi-layered and often paradoxical nature of ourselves and others. Our focus shifts towards understanding the comprehensive interconnectedness of various issues. We start thinking in terms of systemic interconnections, tension fields, and paradoxes, allowing a higher intelligence to guide us.

We become increasingly aware of achievements and traumas that have spanned several generations. In leadership, we recognise the influence of international and supranational forces on our decisions. We may experience powerlessness in leading from personal conviction, sometimes risking falling into relativism or nihilism. However, ideally, this humbling experience is accompanied by a heightened sense of trust and being led, encapsulated in the term trans-dependence.

We come to understand the paradox that significant changes are often sparked by minor interventions, while grand interventions can perpetuate the status quo.

In Bitcoin-Leadership this mirrors the sentiment: “You don’t change Bitcoin, Bitcoin changes you.” The systemic demands of Bitcoin alter our consciousness and habits symbolically and literally. We begin to grasp how Bitcoin mining, difficulty adjustments, and halving cycles drive miners to utilise more stranded energy and stabilise the energy grid. Another facet of Bitcoin’s complexity lies in its paradoxes, such as how currency scarcity leads to abundance elsewhere (as highlighted by Jeff Booth).
