Level 4 – E. Identity
Compromise and sacrifice
Transition from self to Self
We develop additional identities associated with functioning as long-term partners, friends, and colleagues. Self-centeredness (egocentrism) evolves into a wiser form of self-interest that extends to the welfare of others, known as altruism. This marks the beginning of enlightened self-interest.
On top of the third level’s preferred values of freedom and independence, we begin to realise that our existence is intertwined with others. This realisation initiates the transition from a multi-layered self-experience to the experience of a humanity-encompassing Self.

In Bitcoin-Leadership this represents a more mature awareness of the various roles we play as Bitcoiners. Some aspects of our identity may remain invisible and anonymous, while others are private (such as being a partner or parent), and some are public (such as being a teacher, educator, or community leader). Through the added value of trustworthiness, we can contribute to the community by living conscientiously and with integrity.
