Level 4 – C. Social Role

Relationship person / Team leader
Educator of adolescents

The social roles at this level can be summarised as being a “relationship person” or a “people person”. At work, these roles include positions that require soft skills such as Manager, Team Leader, Team Coach, and Facilitator. In our private life, our roles evolve to include being a (mature) Life Partner and a Coach/Educator of Adolescents. In our neighbourhood or community, our role develops into that of a Serving Organiser. The influence we exert on the world becomes increasingly effective through others: our partner, children, coworkers, colleagues, trainees, team, sports club, neighbourhood council, denomination, etc.

If exhaustion or neglected emotional maintenance has been building up in the previous 20 years, some form of midlife crisis or at least a fundamental reorientation on work and relationships may occur at the end of this period. This helps us put into perspective the status- and achievement-oriented part of our ego, and we start to feel a part of something bigger. More and more, we deeply experience that life is not solely about us.

In Bitcoin-Leadership this role involves being an educator and facilitator. It can manifest in organising and hosting Bitcoin meetups or leading a team of developers. A typical social role that will become increasingly important in the coming years is that of a guardian in a Fedimint community.
