The third chakra, or solar plexus chakra, is situated in the power centre just below the solar plexus, approximately a hand width above the navel. It symbolises self-actualisation (with a small ‘s’) and the cultivation of competence, strength, and power.

One can interpret the localisation of this chakra as the focal point of willpower within the gut organs. This perspective gives rise to concepts like ‘gut feeling’ and suggests a potential intelligence within our microbiome. It represents the deepest will within us, and consequently, what we manifest often transcends our ordinary consciousness.

Of the three lower chakras, this energy centre is closest to conscious perception. However, this proximity can sometimes lead to stress or create the illusion that consciousness directs the will, when in fact, it’s often the reverse. Ideally, consciousness, feeling, and willpower should work in harmony.

Just as Bitcoin mining demands real-world energy expenditure to create digital energy, our microbiome engages in a similar process. Billions of microbes work tirelessly to sustain our unique and conscious individuality, illustrating the parallel between physical and digital realms.
