Level 3 – G. Religious Experience
Functional guidelines
Thinking in religious metaphors
Religion at this level manifests as practical spirituality, where commandments and rules serve as functional guidelines rather than absolute mandates. Practices such as meditation and prayer are often employed for stress reduction and concentration enhancement, with the concept of God viewed as an auxiliary source of strength and assistance. Additionally, there’s a prevalent “can do” attitude, reflected in beliefs like the theory of manifestation, where thoughts are believed to shape reality, aligning with the level’s inclination towards social engineering.
At this stage there’s a departure from a strictly literal interpretation of sacred texts, with various contemplative traditions approached eclectically and pragmatically. Individuals begin to think in religious metaphors, viewing concepts like heaven and hell as inner states rather than literal places. Atheism at this level tends to be more agnostic, acknowledging the absence of conclusive proof regarding the existence or non-existence of God.
In Bitcoin-Leadership this level of practical spirituality is evident in the use of religious affiliations to signal virtues within the Bitcoin community. Individuals may align themselves with specific religious identities, leveraging the tribal aspect of religion to find like-minded individuals within the Bitcoin community. Moreover, some may interpret the Bitcoinisation process as guided by a higher intelligence or blessed by their chosen deity, functioning mainly in a functional capacity to garner support from diverse religious communities. For example, Muslims may promote Bitcoin as haram, while Christians may identify with Jesus expelling the merchants and the money changers from the Temple, thereby contributing to Bitcoin’s narrative.
