One quarter to a year

The time span to be covered in a professional sense is a quarter to a year (budgeting). In private life (relationships, children), the time span to be encompassed is longer (getting a student-loan and/or mortgage). This often creates tension, for instance when entering into a longer bond or taking out a maximum mortgage.

The encompassable social unit concerns one’s own professional group and other professional circles. In these close-knit functional units, there is a risk of becoming isolated from the larger community. In private life, it concerns a long-term relationship and a young family.

Fixation 
If someone excels at this level, this can paradoxically take tragic forms. After all, the sacrifices made and the rewards that follow (in the form of higher income, status and power) can cause the rest of our life to be dominated by competition and striving for even more status. Organisations too can sometimes be

characterised by an excess of power-thinking, maximising profits and an inability to engage in social responsibility. They too can be fixated on this level.

In Bitcoin-Leadership this is the level many Bitcoiners are functioning on. These are the young professionals that still need to establish themselves. It means that they are living on a relatively high time preference because they still need to decide how much they can put into Bitcoin and how they can stay afloat financially this quarter or this year. The training for them will be to slowly transition to a more stable source of income (preferably in the Bitcoin-economy) and to learn to plan their life on a time horizon of, for instance, ten to twenty years.
