Level 1 – C. Social Role

Bringer of joy, Beggar
Impulsive, need-driven

In the social role of the archetypal Beggar, Protectee and Apprentice reveals the dependence on this level. Another aspect is the role of Joy Bringer or Continuer of Life. The child’s influence focuses on immediate need satisfaction, survival, approval, consent and containment. The behaviour is impulsively need driven. In a favourable case, the child evokes natural caring, forgivingness, gratitude and interest from parents. And it often brings these qualities itself. It supplies meaning, enrichment (and aggravation) to the parents’ lives. It provides playful distraction,
and sometimes (unfortunately) also acts as a lightning rod. Then we come to the hidden role of the one to whom suffering is passed on and outsourced. The child then starts to carry along in the line of the generations.

In Bitcoin-Leadership this is a very young level that we should not overlook. There is always a part in us that longs for safety and security. Especially in these troubled times, we should find ways to appease that part of us. This can be through comforting stories that we tell ourselves or through actual moving to a place that feels quiet and safe. At the same time we can train ourselves to be less dependent on our circumstances, as the Stoics do. Both can be valid at the same time.
