Level 0 – F. Moral development

Pre-moral
Ecstatic components

Moral development at this level is driven by pre-moral images, raw impulses, and subconscious values that remain unfiltered. The fundamental forces at play lack societal morality; they are primal and intense. However, these impulses do carry moral consequences when confronted in daily life. They also surface in dreams, where we may justify conflicting actions within the same dream, such as committing and preventing murder or experiencing both torture and being tortured.

This primal consciousness imbues experiences with enchantment and emotional intensity, resembling a pre-rational form of mysticism. It’s characterised by irrationality and magic, allowing us to engage in fantastical acts like flying or resurrecting without consequence. This magical consciousness may also create irrational connections between events, leading to superstition or irrational guilt when charged thoughts coincide with real-life events.

Pre-moral acts are often steeped in mythology, sometimes leading to atrocities justified as religious mandates. Certain indigenous cultures still incorporate such acts, like death or violent blood sacrifices, into their initiations. In more “civilised” societies, these impulses are often concealed under the guise of necessity, such as in war or acts of violence with ecstatic components.

In Bitcoin-Leadership, this level of mythological awareness must be confronted and managed. It involves grappling with our most basic impulses, which carry immense energy. Recognising and harnessing this fierce, sometimes monstrous energy is essential for pursuing higher ambitions. This archetype is akin to mastering the animal within, symbolised by “riding the tiger.”
